I've been exploring the world of personality types again recently, and I'm wondering if there's something here in the MBTI J/P distinction, which (to over-simplify) is the split between people who want things settled and complete vs those who like to leave things open.

For the former, a wiki is a great tool for quickly evolving something and then keeping it as a record of that understanding, but generally the page, once tidied up into a coherent version of that, should stay that way unless something major comes up later.

For that latter, it's OK for the page to remain more messy: in fact it's that mess that makes it more interesting, and more likely for a serendipitous or unexpected discovery to appear when following or making connections. (There's probably an S/N factor at play here too, but I need to think further about that).

I'll grant you that perhaps there are vast swaths of people who don't like to reflect, but whether people like to do it or not, they do think.

A little more reflection would probably do us all some good. I guess that's the summary here.

We paleo-wiki types remind me of the old LotusAgenda and EccoPro guys, preaching to the people who don't know what they're missing.

One argument is that wikis moved beyond the use of people who like to think/reflect, into the greater number who don't.
